Questions people ask before uploading
Can ClipChat make a lyric video with the words on screen?
No. ClipChat reads the lyrics and uses their meaning to build the scenes, but it does not display the text of the song. There are no karaoke captions and no word-by-word timing. If on-screen text is what you need, use a classic lyric video editor instead.
How do I make a lyric video from an MP3 automatically?
Upload the MP3 file. ClipChat analyses genre, BPM, key, vocal language, lead instrument and mood, marks the sections of the song, and returns a written reading of the track plus up to six scene cards with timecodes in about 60 seconds. That part is free and needs no account; rendering video requires one. The interface is available in 17 languages.
Is ClipChat free to try?
The reading and the storyboard are free and need no registration: a written interpretation, up to two visual worlds, and up to six scene cards with timecodes. Video is not part of that free step. After you create an account you get a starting grant that covers a first short clip.
What audio files can I upload, and how long can the song be?
MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC and OGG, up to 10 minutes. It must be an uploaded file, not a link to a streaming page. Long tracks are processed section by section.
What resolution and aspect ratio do I get?
480p, and the clip is built for vertical 9:16. There is no 1080p option at the moment. Check that this is enough for where you plan to publish before you start.
How do you keep the same singer or character in every scene?
Give one reference frame of the character. One frame is enough to carry the same person through all the scenes. Five angles of the same character make it more stable.
What ClipChat does not do
- No lyrics on screen. ClipChat does not render the text of the song, timed captions or karaoke highlighting. It only uses the meaning of the words.
- Renders are 480p and 9:16. If you need a 1080p master or a horizontal version, ClipChat cannot produce it today.
- ClipChat does not generate music. You bring a finished track; ClipChat only makes video for it.
- Uploads are limited to 10 minutes, and long tracks are processed in sections rather than in one pass.
Most lyric video tools solve a typography problem: put the words on screen, on time, over a background. That is a real job, and there are tools that already do it well. We were interested in a different question — what the song is about, and what should be on screen because of it. So ClipChat reads the lyrics for meaning, maps the sections of the track, and turns that into scenes you can read before anything is rendered. This makes it a narrower tool than the name suggests. It will not give you captions. It will give you a plan you can read and change first.
